For this project, we focused on how "artists solve problems," or how artists use different methods to create pieces of art. The first step I took when doing this project was sketching the outline of the actual shark. After that, I used different colored M&Ms to create the shark and the background. The blue M&Ms make up the shark, while the orange, green, and yellow ones make up the ocean. The brown M&Ms create the ocean floor and the red ones represent drops of blood coming from the shark's mouth. This piece took a really long time to finish, but I could not be happier with the results. This is definitely my favorite piece of work from this year.
For this project we had to create a replication of an object in the classroom. I worked with one other person, and we decided to recreate a ceramic swan that had a flower inside of it. The difficult part was that we chose to only use paper when recreating the swan and flower. For the swan, we used a piece of yellow construction paper and learned how to make an origami swan. After completing the swan, we used colored tissue paper and a wire to create the flower. This project was not necessarily difficult, but we had fun completing and we were able to gain new skills, like creating origami structures, while completing the project.
